Socketing and Jewelcraft Overview Socketing allows certain equipment to hold special jewels. A seated jewel grants a bonus based on its family. A host may load with settings already cut into it, or the Faceted Forge Master may cut a new setting for a price. What can be socketed? Only equipment with valid settings may hold jewels. 1) The item was created with settings already on it. 2) The item was made socketable by design. 3) A new setting was cut by the forge master. Implants take modules. Tattoos take special inks. Shapes and matching Every setting and jewel has a shape. They must match. Common shapes: round, spike, eye Rare shapes: fang, star any is a universal setting found on special items. It is not normally cut to order. Families and bonuses Each jewel family grants a different stat bonus. Common examples: ash - damroll void - spellpower root - hit regen blood - hit points sun - hitroll moon - damage reduction storm - dodgeroll bone - armor class Rare examples: fire - Melee Power rating steel - Major Wound rating Inspecting socketed gear Use: buy socketinfo <item> This shows settings, shapes, installed jewels, empty settings, and active jewel bonuses. Seating a jewel Use: buy socket <jewel> <item> [setting] If no setting is named, the first valid open setting is used. Removing a jewel Use: buy unsocket <item> <setting> The jewel is removed and returned to you. This is intentionally different from special tattoo ink. Ink removed by laser is destroyed and cannot be recovered. Adding a setting Use: buy addsetting <item> <shape> Adding settings is expensive, and the price rises as more are added. New settings begin at a minimum of 5,000,000 credits. any is not normally cut to order.
