It is the early armor-and-duty foundation beneath Shield Wall, Oathguard, Iron Vow, and the later Pendragon path. At Knight remort 20, the Lineholder rescue effect uses Knightly Bulwark as its short self-brace after a successful Rescue. The original early-remort values remain intact; later Knight milestones add separate defenses rather than silently replacing this effect.
